SRSF Joint Project Call (2019)

Silk Road Science Fund

Silk Road Science Fund (SRSF) is a joint project between Iran and China to:

  • support joint Research and Development projects,
  • hold joint workshops, and
  • exchange researchers in short term courses.

In its third year, proposals applied jointly by researchers from Iran on the one hand and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on the other will be supported along with SRSF framework. The proposals have to be on one of the following scientific fields:

  • nano technology
  • renewable energies
  • cognitive sciences
  • advanced materials
  • water sciences
  • medical engineering

 

Joint Research and Development Projects

SRSF supports a maximum of six joint research projects.

Iranian researchers can register their joint research proposals in Iran National Science Foundation Research and Technology Management System from April 18, 2018 to May 31, 2018. To receive the proposal for joint projects please click here.

All proposals must be submitted separately and simultaneously to Iran National Science Foundation (INSF) (by Iranian researchers) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (by Chinese researchers). Applications submitted by only one of the two parties will not enter the review process.

Researchers may choose only one of the six scientific fields mentioned in the Call.

Those research proposals that can be carried out in Iran without the participation of the Chinese party will not be included in Call priorities.

The lead Iranian researcher must be a faculty member in one of the universities or research institutes in Iran, and the lead Chinese researcher must be a faculty member in one of the universities or research institutes affiliated to CAS.

Those researchers whose joint research proposals have been accepted last year within the SRSF framework are NOT allowed submit proposals for joint research projects this year.

The maximum of financial support granted to the researchers of each party is 1.680.000.000 Rials a year.

The maximum time period for each project is three years and the approved projects will start from January 2019.

 

Joint Workshops

SRSF supports a maximum of three workshops.

Iranian researchers can register their joint research proposals in Iran National Science Foundation Research and Technology Management System from April 18, 2018 to May 31, 2018. To receive the proposal for joint projects please click here.

All proposals must be submitted separately and simultaneously to INSF (by Iranian researchers) and CAS (by Chinese researchers). Applications submitted by only one of the two parties will not enter the review process.

The lead Iranian researcher must be a faculty member in one of the universities or research institutes in Iran, and the lead Chinese researcher must be a faculty member in one of the universities or research institutes affiliated to CAS. The workshop may be held only in Iran or China.

In case the workshop is held in Iran, INSF will grant a maximum of 630.000.000 to the Iranian researcher for hosting the workshop, and CAS will cover the travel costs of the Chinese researcher to participate in the workshop.

Those researchers whose joint research proposals have been accepted last year within the SRSF framework are NOT allowed to submit proposals for joint research projects this year.

Workshops must be held in 2019.

 

Researcher Exchange Program

Within SRSF Researcher Exchange Program, one Iranian researcher may visit one or more institute(s) or university(s) affiliated to CAS, for a maximum of one week.

SRSF will support a maximum of 24 researcher exchanges, each lasting for a maximum of one week.

Iranian researchers can register their applications in Iran National Science Foundation Research and Technology Management System from April 18, 2018 to May 31, 2018.

The Iranian researcher must be a faculty member in one of universities or research institutes in Iran.

The application for researcher exchange program can be submitted solely by the Iranian researcher to INSF and there is no need for the exchange application to be drafted and submitted jointly with the Chinese party.

The Iranian researcher must submit an invitation letter from the institute(s) to be visited to Iran National Science Foundation Research and Technology Management System. In the invitation letter, he hosting institute must clearly state that they cover the residence costs of the visiting Iranian researcher.

The dispatching party (INSF) is responsible for international travel costs, while the hosting party covers the costs of local residence and urban trips.

CAS may only host visitations from its affiliated institutes and universities.

The researcher exchange must be carried out in 2019.
